The road to the Junior Legion State Championship begins with Area Tournament play. At the Class A level, Nebraska has seven Area Tournaments (Areas 1 through 7) that will be played July 16-21. Since the 2006 season, the 21 Class A teams in the Omaha Metro Area that comprise Areas 1 through 4 have implemented league play to determine area tournament assignment and seeding. Those 21 teams, plus Omaha Roncalli, a Class B Legion program, are divided into two pools of 11 teams each, Pool A and Pool B. Each team plays a league schedule consisting of 12 games which includes one game each against teams in its pool, plus two games against teams from the other pool.

At the conclusion of the League season, the 21 Class A teams are ranked 1 through 21 based on their win percentage and using tie-breakers based on head-to-head competition and opponent winning percentage. After the teams are ranked in this manner, they are then assigned to one of the four Metro Area tournaments (A1 through A4) using a serpentine seeding system. If the serpentine process causes a host team to be assigned to an Area Tournament other than the one that it is hosting, a "horizontal swapping" procedure is used to swap teams within the same row to get the host team into its tournament.

The following pages include current Metro League Standings and individual team pages which show details for each team's League record. League games are generally played every Tuesday and Wednesday.
